The power of SQL e RSS

Mårten Mickos, CEO di MySQL AB

It's amazing how important RSS can be for databases. [...]

The power of SQL is that so many developers know it. So part of the momentum of relational databases comes from the enormous army of developers who know how to use it.

But now RSS is becoming the lingua franca of people on the web who have structured or semi-structured data to send to each other. The more developers there are who know RSS, the more RSS wrappers there will be for databases. And perhaps one day database replication will be done with RSS. Perhaps RSS will do what XML has tried to do for a long time. Perhaps there are other ways to use RSS.
